Can a Motor Scooter Be Too Cheap?
You want to purchase a motor scooter, yet you're limited on cash to invest, and you find a great deal, but is it really such a great deal? Can a motor scooter be too cheap? Will you just be wasting your money rather than really getting a good deal?
These are all questions I'm sure are running through your mind as you think about getting a “cheap” motor scooter. There are a couple of things you need to take into consideration as you weigh this out. Are you purchasing this scooter to be your main source of transportation to and from work, or is it more for leisure and fun? Do you really care about extra comforts and bells and whistles, or are you satisfied with having a simple model that just does its job?
Considering these two questions can immediately give you a better outlook on whether or not your decision to spend less on a scooter is really too cheap. It goes without saying that you will need a motor scooter that is both efficient and reliable if you are going to be using it as your main transportation to get you to work. Likewise, if you will just be putting around and playing with it on the weekends, you might consider a motor scooter or moped that may be less reliable and more of a fixer upper that you can still enjoy.
Then there comes the extras. Maybe you will benefit from extra mirrors or a cool basket to hold your stuff if you're using this vehicle as your “work” vehicle, but if it’s just for fun, then you might not even use those extras.That's why you want to weigh these things out before making your purchase to really see if your investment is worth it or if you are spending too much on your “hobby” vehicle.
The truth is you can spend anywhere from $1000-2000 on a simple motor scooter or upwards of $6000 on a tricked out high dollar motor scooter. It really is a personal decision, and if you like the simple, no frills type, then buy a cheap motor scooter. On the other hand, if you want all the extra bells and whistles, and don't mind paying the additional cost, then by all means, go for it! Either way, you will be contributing your part by driving an environmentally friendly vehicle and having fun besides.
